The Canon R5C is the perfect camera for the photographer and run and gun filmmaker. Canon needed a way to showcase their newest camera as well as put the R5C’s capabilities to the test.
CREATIVE
INSIGHT
Photographing and filming paragliding through beautiful rolling hills in Southern California and mountain biking knife blade ridges in the Utah desert provided the perfect ingredients to showcase the full potential of the new Canon R5C.
PRODUCTION
EXECUTION
For the R5C, we wanted to convey a story of dynamism and movement to complement a camera whose video and photo capabilities are truly unrivaled. To do this, we honed in on two extreme sports and opted to shoot athletes in iconic locations: paragliding in Santa Barbara, California and freestyle mountain biking in Virgin, Utah. We crafted a two-leg shoot in disparate climates, shot back-to-back in the same week, featuring six athletes, with a large crew and client on set.
DIVING
DEEPER
To film the paragliding component of this shoot, both Director, Keith Ladzinski, and DP, Tommy Joyce, took to the skies in Santa Barbara to capture stills/video of the athletes, Cedar Wright and Nellie Milfield, and BTS of Keith in action using the new R5C.
