Keith Ladzinski and Andy Mann documented what turned out to be 8 pitches of dangerous, rain-battered, choss-infested, mud-covered A4 climbing in the remote regions of Poumaka. The team wanted to tell an epic adventure story as well as show the unique and powerful capabilities of the Dell 12 Latitude Rugged Device.
CREATIVE
INSIGHT
National Geographic explorer-climber Mike Libecki completed his 60th expedition earlier this year, making the first ascent of the jungle tower Poumaka. Located on the French Polynesian Marquesas Island of Ua Pou, Poumaka proved a daunting task for Libecki and team, but having his reliable Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme device helped him along the way - and also helped him stay connected back home with the one person who means the most to him: his daughter.
PRODUCTION
EXECUTION
The production on this shoot was about as hard as it comes. The team brought heavy packs to the remote archipelago in the Marquesas Islands (near Tahiti), Ua Pou, to attempt and shoot their climbing objective. Aside from the heavy packs and long travel, the crew spent weeks in the mud braving the elements of the jungle.
