In 2019, Esteban Topo Mena and Cory Richards attempted to climb a new route on the north side of Mt. Everest. After six weeks of hard work above 21,000 feet in elevation, the duo had to turn back, and make a new plan for a future attempt.
CREATIVE
INSIGHT
Over the past few years, the dup planned to return to Everest to attempt the new route. In 2020, due to COVID, their plans changed from Everest to Dhaulagiri. Once they reached the basecamp and started the long acclimatization process, the team dynamics shifted drastically, causing the team to fragment, and each of them to examine their goals at a much more intimate level.
PRODUCTION
EXECUTION
The story ended up unfurling in ways that we could have never predicted. The careful coverage was only made possible by the years of expedition media experience that Triage Creative brought to the table.
DIVING
DEEPER
Triage Creative was prepared for the expedition on Dhaulagiri. The team adapted a series of drones for high altitude flights, and trained for life above 8000 meters for over nine months prior to the trip. The team also had to quickly find solutions to failing batteries that were crucial to documenting the climb.
